easy sail repair with 3m 5200 - dacron material
I have a few small holes on an old mainsail that needs to be patched.
Over the years, I used sail tape and stitched holes "correctly" using uv lines and polyester materials.
I stumbled across several sites where people patched their holes with 5200 and abandoned old sails.
So it's less than $10 and I think I'll give it a try.
I went to a local sailing maker and picked up the polyester in a small piece of junk.
The online order price of the 3M5200 is about $9.
Sail has a history of more than 30 years, but the situation is not bad.
I will not do this repair on the new sail or the sail in good shape.
But why not, in order to get an old sailing boat out for a few more years?
