GURUGRAM: NHAI installed a sound barrier around the MDI building in IFFCO Chowk.
The move eased residents of the MDI industrial zone who had to deal with extreme noise pollution caused by heavy vehicles in Delhi
According to NHAI officials, the cost of setting up the sound barrier is Rs 5. 5 crore.
The sound level should not be limited to 65 days and 55 decibels in the business field at night, according to the CPCB (
Central Committee on pollution controlguidelines.
Saurabh Singhal, team leader and transportation expert at Bloom, NHAI consultant for the project, said that the sound barrier will effectively reduce noise pollution in Iffco Chowk and MDI Industrial zones
Sound levels in the region are expected to drop from 65 ibels to 25 Dec ibels.
Earlier, MDI officials asked NHAI to install sound barriers around their buildings.
They wrote a letter to the highway administration saying that the noise caused by heavy vehicles on the highway hindered their work.
The sound barrier is made of aluminum, galvanized steel and special solid polycarbonate sheet, which transfers some noise while absorbing the rest.
